The purpose of Hopewell Homestead is to strengthen mental health wellness in communities, families, and individuals by providing compassionate hospitality and Equine-Assisted Services.

Hopewell Homestead believes that financial circumstances should not prevent someone from receiving quality mental health care.
Through the services of Jill Shelby, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner licensed in Indiana, we provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management to support mental health recovery and wellness.
We accept Medicare, Medicaid, and participating commercial insurance plans, while also offering self-pay services. As a nonprofit organization, charitable donations help us expand access to care and strengthen our mission of serving individuals, families, and communities.

Psychotherapy Incorporating Horses is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that integrates the unique presence and responsiveness of horses into healing processes. Guided by licensed mental health professionals and equine professionals, clients engage in ground-based experiences with horses to explore emotions, build trust, and develop coping strategies.
Horses, as sensitive and nonjudgmental partners, help mirror human feelings and behaviors, creating opportunities for insight, emotional regulation, and personal growth. This experiential method supports individuals in addressing trauma, anxiety, depression, and relational challenges in a safe, nature-centered environment.

At Hopewell Homestead, we believe healing and growth happen best in the context of meaningful relationships. We are committed to cultivating community by creating opportunities for people to connect, learn, serve, and belong.
Our gathering place extends beyond the boundaries of the Homestead itself. Through shared experiences, educational programs, volunteer opportunities, community service initiatives, support groups, and special events, we seek to strengthen the bonds that connect neighbors, families, and individuals throughout the broader community.
We welcome people from all walks of life and seek to foster an atmosphere of compassion, respect, and hospitality. Whether gathering around a meal, participating in educational workshops, engaging in therapeutic and equine-assisted activities, serving others, or simply spending time together in a peaceful rural setting, we believe authentic connection promotes well-being and resilience.
For many, community also provides opportunities for spiritual connection and deeper meaning. We honor the diverse backgrounds and beliefs of those we serve while creating space for reflection, encouragement, and personal growth.
Together, we are building a gathering place where people can find support, develop lasting relationships, discover purpose, and contribute to the flourishing of individuals, families, and communities.
